A thousand broken hearts: tragedy of teen campers

The deaths of two teenagers run over by a ute as they camped out after a party had "broke 1000 hearts", says one of their grief-stricken mothers.

Early on Tuesday morning, 19-year-olds Will Dalton-Brown and Eliza Wannan were sleeping beside a ute on a farm near Molong, in central west NSW, after celebrating Australia Day at a gathering of friends.

Police allege a 17-year-old boy reversed over them in his ute as he prepared to leave the Belgravia Road property about 5am.

The injured pair, whose long-time friendship had recently taken a romantic turn, was rushed to hospital, where they died within hours of each other on Wednesday.

Lee Dalton said her son was on the "cusp of life" but now her worst nightmare has been realised.

"The deaths of Will and Eliza broke 1000 hearts on Wednesday - four of them being their parents," she told AAP.

"It's every parent's worst nightmare. For us it has become a reality.

"Will was, and will remain, 19 years and two days old."

Ms Dalton said her son had recently returned to Australia after a gap year in which he spent three months travelling around southern African by himself.

He financed his trip by chopping and selling firewood.

He and Eliza, former students of Orange's Kinross Wolaroi School, were both about to start university courses.

Nedra Burns, a friend of the Wannan family, said Eliza's parents were "absolutely devastated".

Eliza's MySpace page said she was "supposed to be born in the 60s" and loved to laugh at her own jokes and find the good in everyone.

Police took statements from everyone in the area at the time of the tragedy.

The 17-year-old driver was questioned and released pending further inquiries.

The Best Job in 2010...

Today, the Specialist Mathematics class was canceled again by our beautiful lecturer, Dr Ng. Perhaps she cant speak because she was not feeling well in our last lesson. Ya.... So, i went to library to do my usual work, read newspaper. I was pretty unlucky today. When i entered the newspaper reading room, my favourite newspaper, Sin Chew Daily was taken by other. While waiting for the newspaper, i read The Star. When i was reading, i found a very interesting article, entitled 'Have a sense of belonging and you'll love your job'. I was shocked to know that the best job in 2010 is actuary, that's what i'm studying now.

Is it really? Therefore, i searched it online. Ya... it's alright. They rated the jobs based on few categories. There are physical demands, work environment, income, stress and hiring outlook.
The 10 Best job of 2010 is shown:
1. Actuary
2. Software Engineer
3. Computer System Analyst
4. Biologist
5. Historian
6. Mathematician
7. Paralegal Assistant
8. Statistician
9. Accountant
10. Dental Hygienist

Ho... Actuary is the best job. In their survey, It has few physical demands, little stress, a good work environment, high income about RM 287,427 per year and a positive outlook for employment. Actuary, that's my ambition since i was in Form 4. It was not because the income is relatively high and considerable. I'm really interested in mathematics (Not very good of course). I still remember that my mum used my fingers to teach me mathematics during my Year 1. haha... I was quite stupid at that moment.

Ok. Come back to my topic, how to choose an appropriate job for us? Is it based on the salary? No, i don't think so. If you really choose like that, you will very happy at first of course but after few years or even few months, you will realize that it is very bored to you. In my opinion, you must interested in that job. I'm very disagree with somebody said that your interest is not your job. If you are not interested in the job, how can u pay more effort on it? How can you do your job happily and satisfying? Ya... It is not very easy for everyone to find their interested work. However, you should try it first at least. Everybody get the chance. Nobody is able to choose for you. The life is yours. Don't depend on others.

Death 2

I think I like this topic more. Ya… Death again… I’m really interested in this topic. Sometimes, I did think about where will we go after death? Heaven? Hell? Of course, everybody hope to go to heaven. But nobody know where wil we go. Even nobody can confirm the existences of Heaven and Hell. Heaven, is it a very good and wonderful place? Hell, is it the terrorists and a horrible place? You will not know about that until you die.

Today, we attended our very first English lesson for my second semester. Miss Dil introduced the course structure of our second semester to us. One of the important course works is the investigate project. We have to choose a topic for it and search some articles before write the proposal. I felt headache at first to choose topic. After Miss Dil showed us some example, I chose the topic ‘Mercy Killing’. Somebody call it as ‘Euthanasia’. Actually, I feel this topic is quite interesting but I’m afraid that I can’t find the information.

Mercy Killing… Should it legalized? In my opinion, I do agree that mercy killing should be legalized but is under specific conditions. This is because it can reduce the patients’ pain as well as the patients’ family burden.

Sorry, it is very late now. I have to stop here. I have a class at 8.00 a.m. tomorrow. Anyway, I will share some more information about this topic again after I done my proposal.

2010

Well... Today is the fifth day of the year 2010. But do you know how to pronounce 2010 exactly?

2010...
Twenty-ten?
Two thousand and ten?

Ya... Everybody still blur about it. Even the CNN is now finding a standard name for 2010. They want to find a specific name for 2010 so that they can use it in news reports.

But for me, I like twenty-ten. It is easier to pronounce. However, it is not very important to find out the exact pronunciation for 2010. Either 'Twenty-ten' or 'Two thousand and ten' doesn't matter. Language is used to communicate. It is not necessarily to use every exact words for communication. The most important thing is
the understanding of others!

Death

Death...

Death is one of the process in the life. It is the end of the life. Everybody have to pass through it.Nobody can escape it. It is scared for somebody. But for me, it is nothing to scare. Our life is determined when we were born. When are we going to die??? This is not our job, but the God's job.... We do not have the rights to manage it. Ya!!! You can do it so... But not to postpone. You just can make it earlier like commit suicide. If the time is not for you, you are not allowed to enter it.

Let's me prove it:-

In the year 2008, a very surprised and upset thing happened around me. One of my friends was dead in an accident. He was a very clever and hardworking student. He rides motorcycle to school everyday. One day, he felt sick after school. He went to hospital to seek treatment. After that, he rode motorcycle to home himself. In the journey, he met an accident. He was sent to hospital. The doctor declared that his brain was dead but his life still can last for several day. I was very sad. So, i went to the hospital to see his 'last face'. I looked at his whole body. One thing i found that there is nothing happened on his body even a small wound. The only injured was his brain, the most important part of the body. The only cause of his death was the brain. At that moment , i thought that why his brain was injured but not the other part. Perhaps he will not die if his brain does not injured. Luckily, he didn't fetching his cousin at that moment as he usually fetches his cousin back from school everyday.
However, in the July of year 2009, my cousin met an accident at highway. His car was overturned. Surprisingly, he didn't injured at all. I thought that it is a miracle once i saw the car. It is ready for reclamation. But how comes he didn't injured at all? Ya... Everything is depending on luck. It is not the time for him. He can't die at that time. Everything is set up before.

From above, we can know that we can't do anything for death. But one thing and the only thing that we can do is that .......
Enjoy every minutes and seconds in our life.

My mood at this moment

Although my lectures will be start tomorrow, i still at my hometown now. This is because i have to go to see specialist tomorrow morning. Therefore, perhaps i will miss the first 2 lessons of my second semester. Now, i feel very confused. I'm really curious to meet all my friend tomorrow. Actually i started to miss you all since the second day after the holiday started. In contrast, i'm very scared. I'm afraid the feelings we have established before are all gone. Everything have to start again.
Hope everything will run normal tomorrow (-.-)

Mrs Boss...

Lady Sarah Ashley is an English aristocrat. In the story, she leaves England in 1938 and travels to Australia to follow her husband, Maitland who is in Australia with the intention of selling his cattle station, Faraway Downs. However, she discovers that her husband was murdered when she arrives at the cattle. In addition, a half-aboriginal little boy, Nullah tells her that the Faraway downs’ manager, Neil Fletcher try to drive the cattle onto Carney’s land. Then, she fires Flecther and decides to run the cattle station herself.

Lady Sarah Ashley is a very brave and courageous woman. In the story, she travels from England to Australia alone. Her husband sends an independent cattle drover, called “Drover” to transport her to Faraway Downs. When arrives at Faraway Downs, Drover finds something that is abnormal and goes out from the truck to investigate. Drover asks Sarah Ashley to stay in the truck. But she refuses to follow the instructions. She straight away goes into the house of the Faraway Downs and finds that her husband was dead. Besides that, Nullah tries to prove that Fletcher is a liar by showing Sarah that Fletcher breaks the windmill. As a result, Fletcher mistreats him and threatens his mother violently. Sarah stops Fletcher by hit his face with her stick.

She is also responsible to her husband. When her husband was dead and she finds that Fletcher is trying to gain control of faraway Downs, she decides to run the Faraway Downs herself in order to save Faraway Downs from bankruptcy. She continues her husband’s plan which her husband failed to do it before passed away. She tries to sell 1500 head of cattle to Darwin. She persuades Drover to help her to take the cattle to Darwin. Finally, Drover promises her to drive the cattle to the Darwin after gathers 7 good riders.

Lady Sarah Ashley does not give up easily. In the beginning of the story, she doesn’t know how to ride a horse. But she has to ride horse in order to deliver the cattle to the Darwin. She tries to learn and practice riding the horse with her determination and finally she can ride horse herself. Moreover, Sarah gathers with Drover, Nullah and 5 riders to set out their journey to sell the cattle to the military. In the process, they face a lot of troubles that inhibit them to deliver the cattle to Darwin. For example, Carney’s men set fires to make the cattle stampede. Sarah doesn’t give up quickly. She with the other riders try to stop the cattle from charging over a cliff. Furthermore, Carney’s men also poison the water sources along the cattle-drive route, so they do not have water to drink and for the cattle. Drover wants to give up because travels to next pond needs 5 days while the Kuraman where they can get the water is a Never Never land. But Sarah asks him to try. In the end, they drive the cattle through the Never Never land with the help of King George and deliver the cattle to Darwin successfully.

Lastly, Lady Sarah Ashley is a very nice person. She nurtures and protects Nullah even though she is not naturally maternal. She learns to love Nullah as her own child. She goes beyond loving an individual boy and challenges the whole social system that hypocritically and ostracises the half-caste. When Nullah is captured by the authorities and sent to live on Mission Island with the rest of the half-Aboriginal children, Sarah vows to save him. She begins working as a radio operator in Darwin during the escalation of World War 2 to secure his return. She also prepares to sell Faraway Downs to Fletcher, believing that it will aid her in gaining Nullah back.

In the end of the story, Drover saves Nullah and the children from the Mission Island. When reaches Darwin, Nullah plays his harmonica with the tune of “Over the Rainbow” and attracts Lady Sarah Ashley who prepares to evacuate. Fletcher is killed by King George when he tries to shoot Nullah. Lady Sarah, Drover and Nullah return to Faraway Downs. On the way, Lady Sarah embraces Nullah and lets him go walkabout with his grandfather.

Rich what? -Richmond...

Movie Review:
This movie portrays a coach who tries to teach his players to play basketball as well as their altitude and academic performance. Ken Carter is a basketball ex-player holding a number of his old team’s records in Richmond High school. Years later, he returns to the school and takes over the job as the team’s coach. He wants to make the Richmond team into a winning team and teaches the boys to respect themselves and excel in the classroom. In the first day, he makes a contract and asks all the players to sign. The contract states that the players have to achieve a GPA of 2.3 scores, attend all the classes and sit in the front row of the classes. The players refuse to sign the contract at first, but forced to sign it because this is only the chance for them to play basketball. Under Carter’s guidance, the team turns their losing season around and allowed to take part in Annual Bayhill Tournament. However, Carter found that they did not upheld the contract, he decides to lock the gym. He cancels all the practices and game even the Fremont Game which is the biggest game of the year. This receives a lot of complaints and oppositions from the parents and a board is set up to overcome this problem. In the board, the 5 voting members and the principal with a vote of 4 to 2 end the lockout of the gym and Carter resign his position. But when he reaches the gym, he sees all the players are doing their course works there. They ask Carter not to leave them and promise that they will meet all the term of the contract. Finally, they achieve the requirements and start playing basketball again. They are in to the State Tournament and opponent is St. Francis which is one of the best high school team in the nation. They are loss in the competition with the scores of 68 to 70. At the end, most of them go on to college and some with the college scholarship.
Comments:
In my view, this movie expresses many issues to us. First, I learn that team cooperation must be achieved in order to success. In the story, Mr. Cruz verbally abuses Ken Carter on the first day and be asked to leave the gym. When he wants to join the team again, Carter does not accept him. Carter asks him to do 2500 pushups and 1000 suicides before Friday. It is an impossible mission. But at the end, all the players share responsibility for him and he is allowed to join the team again.
Besides that, I learn that situation of teenagers in the society become worse nowadays. According to Coach Carter, Richmond High School only graduates 50% of its students and 6% of the graduates go to college. There is a great question: where are they going? And the answer is probably to prison. This is a very serious problem in the society now. We have to pay more attention to this issue. One of the most effective ways is education. So, in the story Coach Carter takes over the job as a coach is try to change the players’ altitude and discipline as well as make a good way for them in the future. Finally, he is successful as most of the players are going on to college.

RM100- Very hard to earn

First i received a call from my friend that told me there got a part-time job as a promoter on 8/8/09 Sat and the salary is RM 100, i was very happy.I promised him directly. Wa... RM100 le. It is just a easy job because i done it before that is Astro Hua Hee Karaoke in my village last two weeks. The differents were this time i am not a free salary worker and the program was held in Kajang. So we had to drive to there ourselveand i was the driver. Yesterday, i woke up at 6.30am, and started the journey to Kajang at 7.00am. We arrived there at 8.45am, then we started our job. I was surprising to see just a few people were there while our program will be start at 9.00am. I thought Kajang is a large city but how come there is just a few people. All the programs there were same with that in Titi last two weeks. The only extra program was the Disney Story Telling. The most interested section was the dancing competition. This program was opened to couples but no body wanted to take part. So we tried to change it to individuals section. This attracted 5 aunties and uncles to take part. We just played a song then they started to dance whatever styles they want. This program was won by a uncle who danced hip-hop and his trousers was decorated with many small bulbs. The whole function was ended at 6.30pm. And we helped to clean the place. We started our journey to home at 7.00pm and arrived home at 9.00pm. I was very tired ............ Haiz...This RM100 was very hard to earn. It used up my 14 hours of my weekend. Tired....

Assignment...

Before i entered college, i often heard that someone busy with their assignment. Why the life in college and university fulfiled with assignment? What the use of assignment? We waste a lot of time by doing assignment. It is really useless... i thought it before. But after i done my MPW assignment today, i only know assignment is very useful. I learnt many things in the process of doing MPW assignment. My MPW assignment title is "National Day versus Malaysia Day". After i done it, i only know that 31 August 1963 was decided as the Malaysia Day but it was postponed to 16 September 1963 because the opposition of Indonesia and Philippines. Why we didn't celebrate Malaysia Day every year? I think that no many people know that. That's what i learnt in doing my assignment. However, I'm still don't like to do assignment, because it really need a lot of time but it is helpful. Hope our lecturers give us less assignments... HAHA...

Well Performance....

Today, our Titi Youth Association(TYA) had work in coordination with Astro to organise an activity called "Astro Hua Hee Karaoke".It was a very large function in our village. In the function, there were many sub-activities such as children colouring competition, singing competition, laugh competition and so on. First at all, all participants had to register at the reception. By 7.00am, there were many parents with their children lined up to register and take a front place for thier children but the activity will be start at 9.00am. This is because they thought Astro will record and show the video. This happened tell us the parent always want the best for their own children. After that, the first and second sessions of the singing competition was started. These sessions were only opened to those who are below 16 years old. I was surprised to see one of the villagers sent her five years old daughter to take part in competition. Then, laugh competition was started. This game was to fight who can laugh for longest time. One of our Titi youth Association members was took part and became the winner of the game. Beside that, there were about 30 children participant in Catch Fish Competition. All the people there were interested in this game. This game was just opened to those who are below 12 years old. Dancing was the most interesting competition. our TYA members were took part in this competition. They used one week only to practise a dance. They were the most popular in the dancing competition. There were also many aunties took part. The eldest participant was 76 years old. When she went up to the stage, all spectators were giving applaud to her. Finally, the third and forth sessions of singing competition were started. The forth session was the PK between our JKKK of Titi Village and JKKK of Hosapa Village. Each of the JKKK was sent three representative to fight their singing skills. After all the activities, there was a prizes giving ceremony. The astro representative was giving the prizes to all of the participants as consolation. The activities were dismissed at about 7.00pm. This was a very good activity for the villagers to take part rather than do other things else. I hope that our village will have more such healthy activity like this for our villagers to take part.

Unfortunate day ...

The accounting lecturer give us a assignment last Thursday and we have to pass up it on 30-07-2009. Today is my turn to finish my part of the assignment. All of my group members had done their parts and they saved their works into a pen drive and gave it to me. I decided to complete my assignment after all my class today. When i reached the library , i only realise that the pen drive that they gave me before is lost. I try to find it at the places i went previously. Unfortunately, i fail to find the pen drive . The only copy of the assignment in the assignment was lost. So, my group members have to redo the assignment. This is my first unfortunate day in Inti. I hope it will not happen again. Very sorry to my group members, Eng Keong, Chai Boon and Afif. Thanks for your forgive.

Thanks , My Friends ......

I'm leave my village when i'm in Form 1. At that time, I used a lot of time to adapt myself to the environment. Since i come from a small village, i am very bad in English because i use my mother tongue language at all the time even though during English lesson in primary school. When i enter the secondary school in town, all the teachers there teach in English, I'm misunderstand what's the teacher is teaching. Everytime when the teacher leave the class,I'll go to ask my friends what's the teacher talking about just now. Fortunally, I recognise many friends in the class . They never refuse to teach me. They are very patience. They will teach me until i'm understand. I'm very happy to have such good friends. Thank you very much, my friends. What's i got today is your contribution. Love you forever......
